Xochiquetzal was the goddess of love, fertility, beauty and the arts. Her name translates to “feather flower” and was often associated with bright florals and feathered adornments.
She encouraged sex as means of pleasure, not just reproduction and was a major patron for artists, lovers and especially women. She had the ability to absolve one’s sins and purify the soul. She was often portrayed in the “full bloom of youth” and was widely worshipped through festivals and spiritual confession.
