Mezclada, or “mixed”, is an amalgamation of various death deities from my past. The elements from each of the stories that resonate most with me are incorporated into the piece. Marigold petals, raven, descending stars and a skull are all motifs of an intangible force that binds us all together. The thread of life that can be found across many pantheons of myths and stories connects us with our pasts and futures.
We share this part of our lives regardless of who and where we are.
