HAUSOS

REGION: Proto Indo European

Hausos is an extremely ancient goddess from the reconstructed pantheon of Proto-Indo European mythology (PIE for short). PIE culture and peoples lived primarily during the late Neolithic period or approx 4th millennium BC. They particularly revered the sun and as such Hausos was a chief deity.
She was the bringer of the sunrise and represented eternal rebirth. In one of my favorite depictions of her, she dances each morning to raise the sun into the sky.
Hausos eventually transformed into various different goddesses in multiple cultures throughout the world, Eos in Greece, Ushas in India, Earendel in the British Isles and Ayg in Armenia to name a few.
